Last night was a lovely night out. [livejournal.com profile] choose_again, [livejournal.com profile] lediva, [livejournal.com profile] tacotortoise, [livejournal.com profile] rigel, [livejournal.com profile] bleemoo and I all went out to see Hot Fuzz, then came home and watched Spaced and Green Wing until we were all giggly and loopy from non-sleep. Huzzah.

Hot Fuzz was, as everyone said, awesome. Without giving anything away, Pegg and Wright are very good at taking your basic action movie premises and then distorting/exhaggerating them in ways that appeal even more to the geeky audience.

In other news, found out that one of my best friends from college and his wife are expecting a baby. Not a month ago, a former co-worker of mine changed his AIM icon to a pic of his new-born son. Wow. It's happening. My peers are beginning to reproduce. I am ecstatic for them and can't wait to see what kind of amazingly cool spawn they come up with. Note to [livejournal.com profile] heiligekuh: now would be a good time to start journaling again, for the benefit of those who no longer share a coast with you, beeyatch

Finally, on a completely unrelated note, some NPR-related humor I feel compelled to pass along (the first of which was recommended by [livejournal.com profile] lediva, I think)...

- This American Life Completes Documentation Of Liberal, Upper-Middle-Class Existence
- Corey Flintoff Unleashes Sonorous, Pleasantly Modulated String Of Obscenities

Ah, NPR and The Onion: two great tastes that taste great together. =:)

Oh man, that first one bordered on vicious. I was lollin' the whole time, though.

Dug them both, though, thanks for the links. :D

Yes it was great, wasn't it. Going to cafe du nord to see an amazing punk show and being below the average age (yay for no green day teens), seeing Southern Girls (a drag band doing all Cheap Trick covers), Pansy Division (first show in SF in over a year), and...

...THE AVENGERS. It's been 30 years since they played SF and it was great!

Plus the nerdy older guy (forgot his name) who was like 40 when we used to go to Gilman (who is now like 50) and always wore a dog collar and Pansy Division t-shirt and glasses and danced in front was there!

YAY FOR PUNK RAWK IN THE BAY!!!

Wish you could have been there. It would have been way more fun if you were there.

I won't sign this since if you can figure out who this is based on the content of my note then we are no longer friends.

BTW, TAL is way better on FM than TV. Kill Your Television!

Aww man. The punk scene's one thing I really miss about East Bay. I'm sure there're lots of great bands out here, probably lots of great punk bands though I hardly ever seek such out any more. But nothing'll ever replace the Berkeley scene. *wistful*

And yeah, I totally remember that guy. I think his name is Joel. The Hope Bombs actually played his Birthday once, opening for Pansy Division (my brush with fame. Flaming, flaming fame).

Next time I'm in town (hopefully sometime in early summer. We are so going to... something. With any luck, the Stitches will be in town so we can go see them and then feel bad about ourselves afterward.

Oh, and...

...for the suggestion that I might not know who this is. =:P
