I've said it before and I'll say it again: for all of our/its faults, people are amazing and today is an awesome time to be alive.

edit Argh. Embedding this vid doesn't seem to be working. Fine, clicky here then.

I've seen both of these demos before, and I agree, they are _complete_ awesome. What he doesn't mention in this talk is that the controller is also a bluetooth device, which is how he is able to integrate it with his computer, and what is powering a lot of the developmental hackage out there (there are already setups that let you use with WiiMote as a remote for your computer/home theater, for instance). Actually, the amazing thing to me about the WiiMote design is that all the intelligence is in the remote. The sensor bar that comes with the Wii just emits infrared pulses, and the controller is what picks those up, and does a lot of the math, and rebroadcasts the info to the Wii via Bluetooth.

I agree whole-heartedly. Given enough food, water, sunshine, and insulation from war and desperation, human beings can be wonderful creatures. And yes, the awesomeness of now is getting awesomer every day.

PS Hi Brad. *wave*

I was at a warehouse band circus party thing in Oakland last month and ran into Wilja. Casey O'Neil (Danger Mouse from Henry's board) was there too, and we were reminiscing about old times. Then the other day for some reason I had a flashback to an old old old board meet with Doctor, Wakko, and Red. Like ancient times. Kinda made me feel really old. Anyhow, we should get together some time. Either I should look you up the next time I'm back East or you should look me up the next time you're out west. It's been a few years since we've had even spurious contact and close to a decade since we've spent any serious amount of time together.

Now I'm getting all sentimental, seeing as how you're the only person I've ever been in a high speed car wreck with. Ahh, memories. *sniffle*

More like a 65ish mph spinout during a terrible rainstorm, culminating in my minivan going backwards down the highway, scraping noisily against the barricade. My first and only major accident and Victor was there, the lucky duck.

I remember we were making Simpson's references just before the car spun out. Good times.

I really need to get out west sometime and get back in touch with people. I really love it out here, but I totally miss y'all, too. *sniffle* indeed.
