This post was written across several days and is just a quick summary of some stuff. I have no brain right now. The monkeys got it.
IMA was freaking awesome. The rides to and from went a lot faster than I'd feared they would and gave me the opportunity to get to know people in my social circle who I hadn't really had much chance to spend quality time with before. Once at the con, I had one game that I would deem "good". The rest were various shades of awesome. Spent more time larping and hanging out with friends than sleeping, which worked out ok since only two of my five characters were sober anyway, so the sleep dep actually helped. There are a bunch of newer games, like The Bard of Avalon and And They Were As Gods, that I'm really hoping will end up running at the next Festival of the LARPs at Brandeis. Plus the parties and opportunity to spend social time with friends was extremely nice. Lots of stories, most of which are only of interest to those involved (or I'm just too tired to write about in detail), so I'll leave it at that.
Got home around 1am and was followed shortly thereafter by
ogaku_spirit and
turbinehubcaps, who finally completed their multi-week, cross-country road trip and will be filling out our household. For those who missed it, this is Sequoia's sister and sister's boyfriend (my boyfriend-in-law??) who, along with her brother,
corvusumbra, who moved in some weeks ago, will be moving in with us.
The new arrangement will be a bit crowded and I've had my concerns, but I am hopeful. Right now Sequoia, Alec and Katherine are all crowded around a laptop, singing along to "Rio" by Duran Duran at the top of their lungs and this makes me feel immensely content for some reason.
