Sep. 4th, 2003 06:18 pmMy class is going great and I'm gonna go see Chicago (the Musical) tonight in Chicago (the city... duh).
Neato.
I wish I was here sometime after the 30th, though. That's when both the Producers *AND* Eddie Izzard's new show, 'Sexie' comes to town. Just looked at his website and there is absolutely no coverage of the southeastern US on his tourn. Hrrmph. He is, however, hitting SF on the 9-14th (yes, of THIS MONTH) at the Orpheum, so you lucky eastbay folks can still check it out.
The www.eddieizzard.com site is actually quite fun. It distinguishes itsself as the only site I have ever visited that plays a sound upon loading that doesn't make me want to strangle the designer. =:)
Yesterday was tiring. Very, very tiring for no reason in particular. By the time I left work, my head hurt and I felt sick from exaustion and not eating. I wandered around the city trying to find a place to eat and eventually came upon a band playing to crowd at a free show sponsored by a local brewery. I wasn't interested much by the hot dogs or the beer, but the band was fun. It was interesting and kind of surreal to be standing in the middle of a plaza, surrounded on all sides by skyscrapers against the backdrop of a gorgeously blue sky just enjoying the sounds with several hundred strangers. At the time my mind began to revel in the poetry of the moment, all these people among sounds reverbrating off of concrete a mile high, when it occured to me that that was stupid. The fact that actually being around a large group of people, outdoors in a real city had such a profound affect on me says nothing more poetic than "Brad has no life", I think in retrospect. That, or I'm more jaded about cities, people, life, the sky and so forth than I should be.
Cynic or hippie? You make the call.
Ended up finding a Jimmy John's sandwitch restaurant. Remember those, Lizbeth? Fun. And the staff had their own sampler for the music, which started with me walking in the door to (as if my day weren't seeming surreal enough) Twisted Sister's "We're not gonna take it" and continuing with everything from Live to the Chemical Brothers. I ended up just kicking back for an hour listening to the music and reading, which did me a world of good.
This morning I got woken up at 4am by some sort of construction or _something_ going on in the alley below my hotel room and doze till about 7:30 then, in an unprecedented feat of initiative, I actually got myself downstairs to the gym, spent some time on the treadmill while watching the news, went back up, showered and had a reasonably healthy breakfast. Man, it made a world of difference. This whole exercise thing should be a self-sustaining habbit, what with the having more energy, feeling better and what not. So why is it such a pain to keep at it? Hrmm.
Ok. Well, that's it for me. Off to find food now and go enjoy the show.
