This post is totally [Title of Show]
Oct. 7th, 2006 03:31 amUgh. I've been meaning to post about this all week but have spent the whole time oscilating between procrastinating and forgetting instead and now here I am telling people about a cool even the day before it happens. Oh well, here goes:
This weekend, 10/7-8 in Davis Square the HONK! festival will occur! Come see lots of wacky street bands (and by "bands" I mean 10-20 member brass, string and wind freak ensembles). I am eagerly anticipating getting to see the Stick and Rag Orchestra play again and the others look great too!
Then there are some other cool things I have been meaning to bring to people's attention. First, to you Boston people: You are all bad friends. How else could I have gone a full year living here without knowing about WERS? Seriously!? Just check out the weekend schedule: Broadway all morning, a-capella all afternoon, followed by "The Playground" in the evening, which plays childrens' songs, tv themes, weird al, etc.
*boggles*.
You have no idea how much I look forward to this all week now.
Oh, and to you non-Boston people: Never fear, They're streaming! =:)
It was on their broadway show that I found my current musical infatuation: [Title of Show]. Calling it broadway's analog to DaVinci's Notebook's "Title of the Song" doesn't do it justice. Yeah, it's doing the meta thing and yeah, the meta thing's getting done, but [Title of Show] is more than just a musical about a couple of guys writing a musical about a couple of guys writing a musical (I told you it was meta). It's got wit, originality and even heart in all the right places. Plus a song about monkeys and speedboats.
Seriously, do yourself a favor and check it out. "Original Musical", "Monkeys and Playbills", "Die, Vampire Die" and "Part of it All" are big favorites already, but there isn't a song on the soundtrack I don't adore.
You know what else I adore? Sleep. And I haven't been getting nearly enough of it lately. Gonna go do that tonight. If anybody wants to meet up at Honk, gimme a call. I'll be at D&D until sometime in the early afternoon on Sat and doing Second Shift recording all day Sun, so late afternoon on Sat is best.
B'bye.
