The Second Shift site is up at secondshiftpodcast.com, as is the first episode. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, Second Shift is a serialized fantasy story being produced like an old-school radio play but for a modern audience. The premise is pretty standard: three kids from Boston are transported to another world where magic is as commonplace as technology is in our world. But around that basic premise we've got some very talented individuals who I think are going to create something very cool with a big, character-based, arc-heavy story that I'm looking forward to seeing unfold over the upcoming 13-episode season.

If you haven't yet listened to it but have a commute and something with which to listen to MP3s, please do me a favor and download the pilot (part 1 is up now, part 2 goes up on Friday). Thanks to those who have provided feedback so far, and for the rest of you I'd like to hear what you think. If you like it, please drop a mention in your journals. Word-of-mouth is going to be our main form of advertising at this stage, so every bit is important!

I'm working on a theme to make our forum match the look and feel of the website as well as an RSS feed for the show. In the mean time we have an episode-announce mailing list that people can sign up for to be informed whenever a new ep comes out.

If you have comments you can leave them here or post them in the forum for the whole cast and crew to see and respond to.

Thanks!

Is the official release the same as the mp3 that was up as a preview a few days ago (with the sound effects added in, which, by the way, made a big difference)? Or is this a still-further-modified "final" cut?

It's the same one that went up on Sunday, I've just been too busy with website stuff, travel arrangements for work, etc and haven't had time to announce it. Thanks for checking back, though. =;)

Oh, and also thanks for suggesting more ambient effects. The cast and crew had all been of the opinion that "well, running sounds woud be nice, but it should be pretty aparent what's happening". And, yeah, it is aparent from the context what's going on in most of the scenes, but then we've all got very clear ideas of what's happening by virtue of our involvement in the story. Your suggestion prompted me to actually get my recorder and take a bunch of others after a rehearsal out tromping through the bushes, hitting things with sticks, etc. It was a lot of fun and I was surprised by just how much it added to the overall quality of the 'cast.
