Every now and then one comes across something one simply has to share...

So, I finally got around to using scummvm to play the copy of Day of the Tentacle (an old LucasArts game, for those of you who were deprived of a proper childhood) that [livejournal.com profile] heiligekuh gave me. The copy I had as a kid always bombed out shortly into the game due to a CD defect or something, so I never got to play very far.

Anyway, early on one of the characters you play gets sent back in time to the inn where the constitution is being drafted. When you talk to John Hancock, you have the opportunity to ask why he signs his name so largely, to which he responds "astygmatism". Note your third dialogue option in response:

*snerk*.

Sorry, I just had to share.

Oooh! I've gotta find a copy of Simon the Sorcerer. If I remember correctly, in the talkie version of StS or the sequel (or both), Simon is voiced by Chris Barrie (Rimmer from Red Dwarf).

Oh, and your icon rocketh. =:)

Yes! ScummVM let me play Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis again, which was great fun, and I played it through once in every iteration again (me=dork). I also played Maniac Mansion again, and I'd forgotten all of the puzzles, so that was faaaabulous.

I wish I still had a copy of Day of the Tentacle. And that I could find my copy of the Kyrandia games. Then I would be a very happy (and nostalgic) person.

I owned every LucasArts game, back in the day, and they're still my favorites. *happy sigh of Monkey Island*

did you ever manage to save normally (ie not save states) in Fate using scummVM? i wasn't even sure i was trying the right thing to get to the save menu (F1) but in any case it never showed up.

in-game saves worked fine for StS...

Yeah, I did save normally in Fate. I didn't keep the manuals, but I guessed right when I played, and it should be F1 to save or load. It worked for me...
