Nov. 30th, 2005 11:05 amSo, yesterday Lizbeth and I watched Splash and so today I did my usual ritual of looking up IMDB yummies on the movies I've recently seen. While browsing I happened to notice one of the more recent posts in the associated forum. It was titled: "Is this Cher's best film?".
Now, for those not familiar with Splash, it is a romantic comedy with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah (and a young, skinny Eugene Levy!) but no Cher to be seen. It turns out that this person had confused Splash, which does involved a mermaid, with the Cher movie Mermaids. Well, you just have to see where the thread goes from there (it starts getting good at about the fourth post down)...

Once again, I love the internet. It amuses me so. =:)
Edit: Ugh. So apparently you have to be logged in to imdb just to read the fora, so to save you good people the trouble, I will just post some highlights, with a sad attempt at using ascii to denote threading. My favorite part is that each message is from a different person. There's something that's just really, really nice about seeing a bunch of strangers participating in collective silliness.
- I love Cher in this film. What do you think?
\_ I like the part where the Giant Marshmallow Man comes charging down the street.
\_ What??
- I think Cher's best film is Dances with Wolves.
\_ Here I must disagree with you as it is generally considered that she was superb in American Ninja Part 2! Definitely a
missed Oscar opportunity methinks!
\_ She was good, but The Arby's Oven Mitt totally stole her scenes!
\_ You guys are all wrong. Cher's best part was when she was on "Tales From The Crypt" on TV. When she pops out of the
coffin & laughs at the beginning of each episode, it gets me every time! ;D
- I think Cher's performance in "Cool as Ice" opposite Robert Van Winklke was her finest, with honourable mention to her
walk on role in "Tron".
\_ I loved her in that one scene in "Home Alone." It was a little silly though, because she really didn't look like the
rest of the family. Maybe that's why they left her home...?
...and so forth.
