Yeah, seriously. Thanks. Those vitalight things look like they could be really useful if they work. Have you actually had experience with them?

Hehehehe. Sean is a serious REI afficionado, so it was really just a matter of looking up stuff that I already knew about.

I haven't had a reaon to buy any of the vitalight things, but I've heard good reviews and I've seen/touched it in various outdoor supply stores and it's at least got a nice texture (not scratchy or anything evil).

i'm retarded and confused. for some bizarre reason i had it in my head that "vita-light" was the name of the material that the long underwear is made out of, because there was this shirt i was checking out made of similar material at marmot or some place, and the material was named something very much like that. (in this case "light" implying that it's light-weight, and thus good for back-packing...)

durrr....

we've used other brands of full-spectrum bulbs (basically whatever they sell at wholefoods), and i don't specifically endorse any one over another. those looked brighter than the kind we get at the grocery store, though, which i thought might be necessary in Boston vs. Oakland.

it makes a surprising amount of difference, actually. both Sean and i get mopy when there's no sunlight, and having the full-spectrum light is very calming and soothing in the "winter".
