...damn, I missed Gilman. I really, really did. I am so jazzed right now. I feel... new. It's good.

And the Punk Prom (at least the four bands we were there for) was fantastically amazing.

Acts of Sedition set their drummer up at the front of the stage and had the two guitarist/singers down in the audience. They screamed. They sweat. I danced. They played for ten minutes and were done. Punk Rock. It was a good way to start the evening.

The singer of Abi Yo Yo's was... raw. He was Violence in a red dress. He jumped and swore and scowled and, frankly, looked hot. I danced and I fed off the band's energy and if you're into the kind of performers that just let loose on stage and are fun to watch, do check them out.

This is My Fist came highly recommended by an old friend that I was delighted to run into at the show. They were obviously the most musical and together of the first three bands, but I didn't dance as much to them. I think it was partially that I was tired from the first two bands, but also that they seemed to trade that tighter sound for some of the raw intensity of the previous groups' performances. I got the impression that they would be great to listen to on a studio album, but all they had was a 7". It's a real comment on my background, I guess, that I felt old when I realized I didn't have a record player. =:\

And then came Jason Webley. Hot damn, that was fun. The man knows how to put on a show. All I can say is that it involved catfish, tomatoes, drinking songs, self-induced-drunkeness-simulations to go with the drinking songs, and a cattle prod. It r0x0red my s0x0rz till my feet were teh burnx0red.

I would also point out that he's playing again tomorrow (5/15) at a gallery owned by one of [livejournal.com profile] abazureonna's friends. You will attend. I may have a previous engagement that night, but if I can find any way to make it, I will. You won't be disapointed. =:)

In summary: tonight was good. Must do it again sometime.

P.S. Note to self: No matter how annoying it is when your birkenstocks keep slipping off in the middle of the pit because you were an idiot and forgot to bring your boots, do not, I repeat, do not ever dance in bare feet at Gilman again.

One word: "Eeeeew".

Other words that spring to mind include "black" and "sticky".

Tonight Lizbeth proved again that she is a better person than I when she actually helped clean my feet afterwards, something I said in no uncertain terms that I would _not_ have done for her. =;)

we should have taken a lot of pictures. that night was awesome. and i still have a balloon! and we need to have a pic of your feet to prove how horribly horribly nasty they were. thank god for feet callus scraper thingies or we would have never gotten it off. it had merged with his feet. *shudder* he had to crawl up the stairs to the bathroom to wash his feet so as to not ruin the carpet. hehe.

oh, and i want to publicly announce my adoration of brad, especially when he is bouncy and pulled into music. it's awesome to see him so free.
