PSA: The Post-Meridian Radio Players have some open roles for the upcoming reprise of their gender-swapped live adaptation of The Trouble with Tribbles! Details from Intrepid Director Mindy follow...

The Post-Meridian Radio Players are auditioning for three cast members for a gender-swapped performance of the Star Trek original series episode “The Trouble with Tribbles”. Auditions will be held April 17th at 7, 8, and 9pm at a private home in the Davis Square area. Please email htucker.theatre@gmail.com with the subject "PMRP Tribbles Audition" and your audition time preference.

The show will be performed at Unity Church in Somerville, May 29-31, and at Boston ComicCon at some point over the weekend of August 9th. Rehearsals will be in the Davis Square area of Somerville, most likely 2 to 4 times prior to each performance, depending on how rehearsals go.

For those unfamiliar with the episode “A dispute over control of a planet brings Enterprise to a space station, where they must deal with Klingons, edgy Federation officials, and a previously-unknown species of small, unbearably cute, voraciously hungry and rapidly-multiplying furry creatures.” (plot summary by memory-alpha.org)

The Post-Meridian Radio Players performs shows in the style of the Golden Age of Radio with actors in front of microphones holding their scripts. Some sound effects may also be performed live on stage.
Character descriptions listed below. All parts are open to female actors of any race or ethnicity, with the exception of Uhura for whom we are looking for a black male actor.

Mr. Uhura – Chief Communications Officer. Kind, strong, curious, brave, and starts off a whole mess of trouble by purchasing a tribble.
Ms. Lurry – Manager of K7 Station – a bureaucrat trying to stay out of this nonsense if possible.
Ms. Baris – The Federation’s undersecretary in charge of agricultural affairs in the quadrant. Arrogant and imperious.

So, how does the plot work with male tribbles?

Tribbles are neither male nor female, or rather they can swap freely between the two. The episode actually states this explicitly, though McCoy uses the term "bisexual", which of course means something else nowadays. ;)
