(NOTE: At the time of this posting there hasn't been anything on the band's official site or FB page, but if it's true...)

I think I was in the 8th grade when I first heard Gwar. It's possible that this explains a lot about me. As I got older and, for lack of a better term, more sensitive, my relationship with Gwar and their "we dare you to take us seriously enough to be offended by this" brand of self-parody got more complicated, but I can't not respect a man who was still getting out on stage in latex armor and pretending to be an alien metal god of carnage at age 50. I wouldn't put it past him for this to all be a hoax, but maybe that's just wishful thinking...
