I haven't arranged a lot of theater outings lately, so by gum, I'm gonna arrange me some theater outings.

There are four shows in particular that I've been planning on seeing...

Second Samuel (https://www.facebook.com/events/472717862793459/)
My friend Nick seems to eat, sleep, and breathe theater, and now he has his first lead role! The play is a comedy of which he's spoken very highly. I hardly ever go see non-musical, non-genre plays (see below for evidence), so I want to make a point of seeing this one.
I've got Second Samuel penciled in for Friday, 5/3 Anyone else? I think tix are purchased at the door for this one, so it's just a matter of showing up on the same day if people want to mob. (Update: [livejournal.com profile] ayelle points out that tickets can in fact be bought online here!)

She Kills Monsters (http://www.bostontheatrescene.com/season/iShe-Kills-Monstersi/)
There are basically three things I know about this show:
  - It is called "She Kills Monsters"
  - The blurb contains the phrases "slash and shapeshift its way into your heart", and "comedic nerdgasm".
  - That is all I need to know to be interested in this show.
How about the 2pm matinee on Sunday, 5/5? Tix are cheap for students ($15), less so for the rest of us ($38), so I might give it a miss unless a lot of people want to come with. (Update: [livejournal.com profile] neuroliz points out that Goldstar has $19 tix here!)

Shakespeare Slam (https://www.facebook.com/events/513031658753163/)
An open mic event for Shakespeare(-related) performances! Expect monologues, spoofs, songs, etc. Come to watch and/or bring something to perform!
This is only on Saturday, 5/11 at 2pm. Tix are $5 at the door.

In The Heights (http://www.bostontheatrescene.com/season/In-the-Heights/)
This is one of my favorite musicals ever. It won a bunch of Tony awards. Its musical style is like nothing I'd ever heard in the genre before, blending latin, hiphop, and dance into a poignant but uplifting story.
I'm thinking Friday, 5/24 for this. It's the most expensive of the shows listed here, at about $58, but IMO it's totally worth it. (Update: Once again the ever-helpful neuroliz points to cheaper ($28.50) Goldstar tix for Sunday, 6/26, so I'm moving plans to that date Update^2: Argh. Looks like we missed the bus on this one. There's currently only one ticket left for that performance, and the only other discounted performance is on Weds 6/5 at 2pm. Could anyone else even do that? Otherwise we can go back to the 5/24 full-price plan. Damn you, fast-moving Internet life!!

Unfortunately none of these seem to have group rates, but for She Kills Monsters and In The Heights I can at least buy a set of tickets together if there's a group of people who all want to go on the same day. So, who's in?

Yet another update: In light of the limited number of Goldstart tix available, I'm going to attempt to buy enough for however many definite commitments I have for She Kills Monsters and In The Heights tonight or tomorrow night at the latest. So if you're not a definite "yes" in the comments, be one before I then if you want to sit in a group Aaactually, it turns out y'all can buy your own tickets and we can still sit together if you just use this link. Thanks ayelle!
