Last time I posted about hitting up a free lecture at MIT people seemed interested, so here are some upcoming events that caught my interest.
First, there are two things TODAY that I'm tempted to do, but almost certainly can't spare the time for. Posting them in case they're useful to anyone else, though: From 2-3pm we've got two of an ongoing series of stand-alone lectures on Cool Astronomy/Astrophysics Stuff (my words, not theirs) (http://space.mit.edu/home/milleric/iap2013/). Then from 4-5pm, someone from the media lab will be talking about "Sowing the Seeds of a More Creative Society" (http://events.mit.edu/event.html?id=14988204&rss).
One that I might be able to make it to is the next set in the afore-mentioned Astro series, this time two half-hour lectures entitled "Creating An Apple Pie From Scratch: The Early Universe In A Supercomputer" and "Stellar Archaeology: New Science with Old Stars". Those are 2-3pm on Thurs, 1/31 in room 37-252 (see link above for details). Care to join me?
