The most promising sign of economic recover that I've seen is a notable uptick in the number of headhunters emailing me about jobs. I've no intention of leaving my current position, but I'm happy to forward these to folks who are interested. They're mostly Linux sysadmin positions.

Respond here if you're interested and I'll make a list and start sending things your way(s) as I get info. I won't give them you're contact data, I'll just forward what I get to you.

Also, Akamai continues to be hiring like whoa. If you see anything that looks good and I know you, send me a resume and the job info(s) and I can submit it internally (full disclosure: Akamai has a pretty generous referral bonus, but I also just want to fill the place with (even) more people I know and like).

Finally, for non-techies, I noticed a Now Hiring sign in the window at Diesel. Given their prices, I sure hope they treat their employees well! Clover Food Labs is also "almost always hiring", and seem like a really cool bunch of people, well worth checking out if the intersection of hipster and food truck is your bag.

Brad, Anakin here. I know you through Arisia and fandom.

One of my techie friends from my writing group is job hunting. Can I introduce you guys via email? I am getting married Saturday and would be happy to introduce you in person any evening between the 13th and the 23rd when I am off on that whole honeymoon thing.

You can email me at this un at gmail. No need for an IRL meeting unless you or your friend would like one. If it's re a job at Akamai, I probably wouldn't want to vouch for someone I'd just met, whether in-person or not (or if I did, I'd make it clear in the referral that this is someone I just met), but ping me and let me know what's up and we can talk. I'll gladly add your friend to the list of folks to whom I forward other jobstuffs, in any case.

Also, congratulations! :)

*raises hand!*

I'm probably not going to be able to leave my current job until the project I'm heading is finished (which may not be until the fall), but I'd very much be interested in receiving stuff! If nothing else, it'd give me a sense of what the market is like, and how picky I can afford to be.

I'm looking for web/UI development positions appropriate to someone who has been out of school for about 2 years.

Harmonix is also hiring like whoa. If you run into anyone searching for work who fits the bill, could you send them our way?

Particularly needed: software engineers, web developers, and artists (OMG SO MANY ARTISTS NEEDED).
