As a little boy I could never handle "the swamp scene" in The Nevernding Story (the one where the horse... oh, I can't even say it. If you've seen the movie, you know). I say without exaggeration that I'm getting a bit teary eyed just thinking about it as a thirty*ahem* year old GrownUp ostensibly doing a GrownUp Job at his GrownUp Desk.
An ex of mine, who had an affinity for The Last Unicorn, and I used to play a cruel game with one another, where whenever we passed a shoreline I would gesture toward the breaking waves and say "Aww... all those poor unicorns", to which she would respond with a steely glare and the word "Artax", at which point we would both sit quiet and sullen for a while. Yeah ok, so "game" is probably not the right word for that, but I digress.
All this is to give you an idea of why the image
juldea linked to on Twitter earlier today is strangely meaningful to me, downright life-affirming, and has had me misty and smiling all morning. Credit for the art goes to James Hance, who has some fantastic stuff on his site. Highly recommended.

:3 It's good to have you back, Artax.
...and hell, while I'm on the subject of Neverending Story-related pickmeups, sometimes when I'm in a bad mood I just watch this on repeat:
You're welcome.
