"Weed of Athens he doth bear..."
Aug. 12th, 2011 05:08 pmIt occurs to me that I never actually posted any videos of the Anarchist Society of Shakespeareans production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, in which I got to play hippie!Lysander. There's supposedly a video of the whole show being worked on, but I have no idea what state it's in. In the mean-time, our costumer took some videos of individual scenes from the front row with her flip.
I really love how well the dialog in Midsummer lends its self (at least IMO) to the... novel characterizations in our production, and this scene shows both hippie!Lysander and post-faerie-meddling crazybeastman!Lysander.
Of course, the vid had to have been from a night where I stumbled on one of my lines, so it's hard (for me, at least) to watch that one part without wincing a bit, but other than that I'm pretty happy with it.
And now, back to madly trying to memorize As You Like It! :)

Date: 2011-08-12 09:20 pm (UTC)When Jason and I were at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival last month, I was noticing actors flubbing their lines--these are professional actors, doing shows they've been performing for at least six weeks at that point, sometimes longer. It just happens, no matter how well you know your lines--we misspeak all the time. As long as you cover it well, taking it in stride, as you did, no one notices (well, except for the directors in the audience who happen to be paying attention to such things for reasons of their own).
