There is something about the combination of talent and silliness-- the ability to be good at something and be more interested in having fun with it than in taking one's self seriously that earns my undying respect.
Thus, I give you TRAGEDY. I dare you to listen to the chorus of their version of Stayin' Alive without visions of Rob Halford* dancing in your head. That said, I think their live vid of "Nights on Broadway" best captures what I like about this band:
...that, and the fact that their album is called "We Rock Sweet Balls and Can Do No Wrong".
*sigh* Sometimes I find myself so keenly aware of the fact that I am not in a metal Beegees cover band with an album called "We Rock Sweet Balls and Can Do No Wrong" that I really wonder if my life has meaning at all. I wish I was kidding, but I'm kind of not-- maybe not about "meaning", per se, but sometimes even my life seems way too... serious. I sometimes feel like my calling, whatever it is, and "real life" are at odds with one another.
(oh, and for those who noted the local show I mentioned on Twitter, sadly it was cancelled-- next time,GadgetTragedy, next time!)
* For the young, Rob Halford was the singer for Judas Priest** and, later, Black Sabbath**.
** Judas Priest and Black Sabbath were/are classic metal bands. If you're so young I needed to tell you that, please don't let me know. My hip might break on principle.

It is a tragedy indeed that we (and probably everyone else I really know) will never be that sparkly glamour fabulous.
