Tim Minchin: My latest talent crush

faerieboots has been recommending him to me since way back, preraphaelite has sung his praises as well, and though the couple of videos I'd watched hadn't totally grabbed me, I was intrigued enough to want to get in on it when a mob formed to see him live, so off we all went.
Wow.
That was seriously one of the best shows I've been to in ages. It was a perfect mix of comedy, music, wit, intelligence and passion. I am a fan. He's still on tour, and if he's going to be anywhere near where you're at, I highly recommend seeing him if you can.
Also, seriously, what is it with Australia and brilliantly funny musical comedians? You'd think they would have hit quota with Tripod, but no.
Also also, how awesome would a Tim Minchin/Tripod double bill be? Maaaaan....
Edit Eeeeeeee!!! Musical version of Roald Dahl's Matilda, being produced by the RSC, music and lyrics by Minchin?? This must come to the states!

I am in total hearts with the man myself. He is just so...fucking perfect, really. Adorable, self-effacing, ironically goth but not really, an incredible pianist, amazingly funny, speaks truth to power, and did I mention freaking adorable?!
I'd heard about Matilda...if it comes to the States, I'm so there.
