Some well-deserved business pimpage
Jun. 2nd, 2010 05:03 pmI am very much on the amateur/cheapass side of things when it comes to recording equipment, so I don't buy much. But I wanted a thingy (see how technical I am?) for mounting my H4 recording device on a standard mic stand, and asked
audioboy about it. He linked me to a product for sale at sweetwater.com. It was reasonably-priced, plus free shipping, so I bought it.
Literally about 5 minutes after placing my order I got a phone call from a sweetwater rep. This guy was probably the friendliest customer relations type to whom I've ever spoken. He had the casual charisma thing down, and it was actually a pleasure to talk to him. First he thanked me for the order, which while pleasant was bordering on creepy, but there was indeed another reason for his call. The thingy I'd gotten was designed for a device other than the H4, and while the product description specifically says it's for that device, said device, unlike the H4, actually requires another accessory to work with the thingy. Within minutes of me placing my order, a Sweetwater rep was calling me to make sure I had the extra part I would need. When I explained that I was using an H4, he said "oh, well the H4 should be fine then", implying that he really knew his stuff.
So in short: damn, that was an almost bizarrely good example of customer service. The next time I buy audio tech, they're going to be my first stop. Plus, the free shipping turns out to be 4-5 days-- way better than what I was expecting!
