usernamenumberI've been planning all this really meaningful (or at least more important than what follows) stuff to journal about lately but have just never gotten around to it. However, a couple of time-sensitive things have come to my attention that I feel I should bring to your attention.
The things in question are shows currently running on BBC radio. The time-sensitivity thereof is due to the fact that the beeb only archives their shows for a week, after which they disapear to who-knows-where who-knows-why.
First, in case anyone missed it, they are producing more of the Hitchiker's Guide Radio series. The new shows are based on Doublas Adams' own adaptations of the later HHGTTG books and star all the surviving members of the original cast (which is good, because I don't think I could handle hearing anyone else playing Arthur (insert aprehension about movie here)). There's also a couple of contests going on: One is for the best expanded entry on Earth for the Guide (must be exactly 264 words) and the other is for illustrations of scenes and items in their flash version of the old Infocom HHGTTG text adventure.

I have played this game in three different incarnations now. I played the original text adventure on an Apple][e. I played CGI-based adaptation and now the flash one at the BBC's website. I've yet to score a point. God speed to you.
But the HHGTTG thing is actually just one of two noteworthy things at their website (well, no doubt there's more than two, but this is the only other one that caught my eye). After listening to the second episode of the new HHGTTG series (the first episode having already been consigned to the depths of the BBC's non-archives) I decided to try something new and randomly grabbed a radio play (possibly part of a series) by Alan Davies called "About a Dog". It's not the best thing ever, but if you like Brittish humor (or, I suppose, "humour") and/or dogs then it will probably time well spent. It's available here
