Famous Theatre Trick: Mix 3 parts filtered water with one part clear vodka in a spritz bottle. Hang the cape up and spritz it all over. As the vodka evaporates, it will lift out the perfume. This also works for getting that "old" smell out of vintage clothes, and most notoriously for getting the second-run funk out of costumes.
