Doctor Parnassus mini-review #1: Full of sound, fury and prettiness. Not convinced that it signified much, though.

Doctor Parnassus mini-review #2: Tom Waits plays the devil. This makes the movie worthwhile all by its self. I was so glad when I saw it was him in the credits, because I don't think I could deal with the idea of there being two people who sound like that.

I found it (as I do almost all of Terry Gilliam's work) deeply moving and a very personal message from a man who has felt what a toll it takes to tell his stories.

I got a lot out of it, and I think a lot of that is because I resonate so strongly with his repertoire of archetypes. I feel like this one was kind of an intellectual cousin of 'Baron Munchausen.'
