via [livejournal.com profile] elusiveat, the data nerds at OKCupid have put together a really fascinating report called Your Looks and Your Inbox, correlating number of messages sent to users by the opposite sex with their attractiveness as rated by same, and revealing some marked differences between the two. Heteronormative, but still a really interesting food-for-thought bit.

I had 0 good, 2 OK, 2 meh, and 2 terrible dates resulting from OkCupid's services, but their data blog is *fascinating.*

Huh. To me it's hard to reconcile rating 80% of people less than "medium" attractiveness with "realistic". Could you elaborate?

Well, I think it would be interesting to see whether/how the results differed for gay, lesbian, and bisexual groups, and so the absence of that was notable to me.
