I learned several things yesterday, but the most trivial of which and the one I'm most inclined to share at the moment is: I really like playing drums in Rock Band when I'm not actually playing rock band. At the party last night I just grabbed the kit without joining the game software-wise and started improving and it was fun and I did not suck. This was very nice, since my total inability to not suck while playing the actual game was beginning to convince me that I'd forgotten how to play kit.

In related news, @amandapalmer recently linked to this video of the Dresden Dolls on Jimmy Kimmel in 2006 with the comment "Brian = drum God". I need to quit finding videos that make me waaaaaaaaant to play (unless of course I get off my ass and do something about that... though that's much easier said than done). Still, even though I'm a bigger fan of AFP's solo stuff than of the Dolls, I'm always impressed by how much they get out of just two percussion instruments and vocals. Damn.
