Ok, just a quick, random link: I'd never heard of Paul Hunt until [livejournal.com profile] big_jewfro linked to this. I often, usually when talking about Darkplace, talk about how good someone has to be at a thing to intentionally look bad at it. This is a perfect example. Seriously, check it out. I loved that one of the first exercises we did today in the improv intensive was doing very intentionally bad Freeze Tag. :)

Oh yes, to successfully fail like that is a hard thing to do. There is a similar conundrum in acting, where the script calls for the character to act, but poorly, so the actor has to consciously break the habits they've developed for good acting. If they can sell the audience on the character within the character, they've got it.
