By way of an all-too-rare update, I thought I would share a few things:

First, I wrote a while ago about getting to fly up to Raleigh to do some short training videos and I've just found out that they're now live on the Red Hat training site. Each class's page now has a video done by one of the Red Hat instructors covering some brief topic from that class. I got to do the videos for RH033 and RH035, the classes that I'm the editor for. They're the two introductory classes so if you already know anything about Linux you will not be learning anything new, but then the videos are more to give people a sense for what they're getting into taking this class vs that class than to teach anything in particular. Also, they demomstrate how Red Hat Enterprise Linux can give its users magical powers of teleportation! *BAMF*! (ie it was a 15-minute presentation edited down to 5)

So yeah, I'm a video star. Which is kinda neat. =:)

Second, for those to whom this is interesting/relevant, the next release of Fedora Tracker is now up and running. They changed the way that rpm data is stored in Yum repositories (for the better, I admit) when FC4 came out in June of '05, but at the time I was too swamped with courseware stuff to work on updating it. So in the last couple of weeks I finally got back into the familiar routine of "work 9am-5pm, code 5pm-2am, sleep, repeat" and it's back up with a more-or-less completely re-written back-end. Yesterday, before I'd announced anything, I got a random email from a stranger who'd "stumbled across" the site and found it useful enough to send me a thank you note. That totally makes it all worthwhile.

Ok. That's all for now. Students are done. I'm going home.
