Dang I'm involved in a bunch of upcoming stuff! I'm in a dystopian musical doing a (short) tour of New England, including New-Friggin'-York, plus unrelated workshops and performances in the Boston area.

Here's a quick summary:

Awesome Up Your Podcast workshop
June 30th, 1-5pm, Unity Church in Somerville
[livejournal.com profile] read_alicia, from the fantastic audio series The Mask of Inanna, is putting together a free workshop for the community on audio theater editing using free/cheap software. I'll be one of the presenters. Details here.

I'll probably be talking about using Audacity to create sound effects (the example I've been using to sum up the presentation is "see how you can take the sound of your cat vomiting and turn it into the sound of an inter-dimensional portal opening!". That said, I probably will not use that as an example. Does anyone have any kinds of questions or demonstrations they would particularly like to see?

2010: Our Hideous Summer Tour!
Wed, July 11 8 PM: PROVIDENCE, ri, 95 empire
Sat., July 21 8 PM: SALEM, ma, griffen theatre
Fri.-Sat., Aug 3 & 4 8 PM: NEW YORK, ny, triskellion arts

I've seen every performance of 2010: Our Hideous Future, The Musical! since it debuted in... 2010, and it's gotten better with every revision (and, just to be clear, I liked it the first time 'round, too!). Now I've had the immense honor of being asked to join the cast as the Narrator, and we're rehearsing like mad (mad, I say!) to make this tour some of the coolest performances we've done, including all-new choreography, a revised script and, if you haven't seen it since Arisia, two new songs which IMO are possibly the best in the show.

Tix for NY are here. Tix for Providence and Salem aren't available yet, but I'll be posting again when they are!

Even if you can't make it, if you know people in any of the places we'll be performing, please spread the word!!

PMRP Summer Radio Theater Live Performances
July 27th at 8pm, July 28th at 2pm and 8pm
I'm directing a classic episode of the George Burns and Gracie Allen program, and it's shaping up to be a great re-creation of a really funny script. PMRP will also be presenting The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Sorry, Wrong Number. I've heard rehearsal runthroughs of each of these shows and, without giving too much away, I am confident telling you that this is going to be a memorable show. See it. Info and tix here

*whew*

Add to this mostly-weekly Stranger Ways rehearsals while we work on our most ambitious album yet, planning house events with M (such as the ZOMGWTFBBQ/ChalkPartay), gearing up for Firefly, and a zillion other work/personal things, and I have been one stupid-busy bee. Can't (well, shouldn't) complain, though. I am so damn lucky to have so much amazing stuff going on. :)

Oooh, I want to come to the audio workshop! That could be so useful for Tailor! I'll see if I can get Bernie to come too.

And I'm definitely coming to the PMRP show.

You are possibly the one person I know whose schedule rivals my own. Well-done, sir. :)

Heh. I should be the person who comes to that audio workshop and asks the really hard questions....

Every time you make one of these posts, I am sad I'm all the way on the other coast. Is the dystopian musical likely to get recorded, by any chance?

Your elevator pitch for the audio workshop raises the question: why did you have a recording of your cat vomiting in the first place?

I hear cat vomiting far too often, usually late at night, when I'm in the middle of some bizarre dream. (You'd know that if you were on G+, where I've cursed your very name.) It's at times like those that I'd very much prefer an inter-dimensional portal.

Too bad your Salem tour date is also the same weekend as NELCO, or I would consider it.

There is a soundtrack of a slightly older version of the show from before I joined the cast, available at a bunch of places (like amazon). There's also a video of an earlier run, but I don't know if it's ever going to be commercially available. I also don't know if there are plans to record the show during the tour or not.

However! There are plans to record the afore-mentioned new songs, and I'll be in one of those, and will most definitely be posting about it once it's available! :)

Also, y'all should get out to this coast some time. It's awesome, and we have an extra futon! ;)

Sounds are for audio theater people like clothes are for larpers: it doesn't matter how weird it is, you'll find a use for it some day. ;)

Sweet! I look forward to the future recordings.

I'm actually considering attending an event in New York in October, and I was thinking that if I do, I might be able to come up your way for a couple days either before or after.
