A lot of y'all have probably already seen this, but it's well worth signal boosting anyway. I can think of so many PR disasters that were due less to an initial comment that someone found offensive, than to the speaker's reaction to criticism of same. In Mr. Alexander's essay there is neither defensiveness nor excessive self-flagellation, no talk of whether one "should" be offended or not, just a thoughtful, even-handed rumination on *why* those who were offended might have been, an acknowledgement of where they are coming from, and what seems like a sincere apology based on that understanding. Bravo, Jason Alexander. Bravo.
