May. 31st, 2009 11:44 amI'm watching a tech preview video for Google Wave, which is the result of them asking the same engineers who created Google Maps "What would email look like if it was created today". I'm only about 20 minutes into the 80 minute presentation, but I am already blown away. Between the features I'm seeing here and Google's momentum within the market, I could actually see this maybe, just maybe, replacing email someday. What's more, from what I'm reading everything, not just the APIs, will be open-sourced and anyone will be able to run a Wave server, which could mitigate the concern that I have re just about everything Google nowadays: "Wow, that's amazing, and y'all don't seem evil, but you're getting scarily powerful with all that data". If this can be run in a way that doesn't require me to trust a third-party with all my data, I know I wold LOVE to have this for a lot of the internal project management and collaboration tasks that I do at work.
Definitely worth checking out.
