This has actually been in the works for about a week now, but I didn't
want to say anything because I was nervous about how it was going to work
out. So now that it looks like it's past the "maybe" stage... I'm gonna be
a video star! =:)

The Red Hat marketing types are producing a set of "Taste of Training"
videos with me and several of my colleagues doing short snippets from
various Red Hat classes and they're going to go up at Red Hat's website,
hopefully by the end of the month.

Today I flew from Boston to Raleigh, did my video shoot and then flew
back (so don't I feel like a rockstar). I'm good in front of a classroom,
but for this I was teaching to a room devoid of people except for the lady
who was arranging the whole thing and two camera operators. I was really,
really worried that I was going to just stand there repeating "I am a
fish", do a funny little dance and pass out a-la Rimmer, or at least have
the normal "uuums", "aaahs" and brainfreezes that happen all the time
over a week-long class, but would be amplified a hundred times in a
10-minute video. It would have been a funny sight to the right person,
seeing me on the plane to Raleigh huddled over the outline for a lecture
on bash like an Introduction to Unix student.

Fortunately, the short version is that I think things turned out really
well. The people running the shoot were very cool and friendly. I didn't
feel rushed and the material just sort of flowed out of me. I can't wait
to see what the finished product looks like. They're going to do editing,
add music (because nothing complements system administration training like
a pumping techno backbeat) and then send it back to me for approval before
making it live.

I'll post again when it's up. It occurrs to me that most of you have never
actually seen me do my job, something that I think I'm pretty good at.
Heck, I've never actually _seen_ me teach before, so I'm looking forward
to it for a number of reasons.

More as it happens...
