Have been looking at the new Palm Pre. One of my biggest concerns would be over leaving AT&T, from whom I've gotten some very good service, for Nextel, about whom I know nothing. Are any of you using them?

By Nextel, you mean Sprint? I've been with them for about seven years. Just got my Pre this weekend. What would you like to know?

Mainly coverage, service, any particular pros or cons. Just knowing that there are people in the area that are having good experiences with them is helpful. Also, if you have any first impressions of the Pre to share, I'd love to hear them.

1. I've always found their customer service to be quite good. Their coverage spans most of the places I find myself, although I'm led to understand that there are dead spots in more rural areas. (Hits me occasionally on bus trips.)

2. So far, I like it. Sleek. Fast (especially when loading applications or using the web browser). Keyboard's a nice size. Interface is pretty easy to use, and the help function was detailed enough to fill in any gaps. I like the "multi-pane" thing a lot. Already finding ways that it's making my life incrementally better, although not in the way that my first Treo did. Any particular questions to answer?

Nextel/sprint- I've had sprint since I lived in western MA, 7 or so years ago (still actually have the same happy valley number).

Good coverage in Boston, and up the seacoast where I live and even fairly far into Maine. Also, stronger signal in my expereicne than some other carriers where I live.

The customer service is reasonable once you have a contract (billing problems etc) - but you have to be careful with the sales people as they are often sub-contracted.

Oh and their accounts are viewable online, and allow you to change services that way etc. So overall a good service.

Okay. Been a week now. Very happy with the voice quality on the phone itself. Still only like 12 apps in the store. Web browser faster than the Treo. Screen crisp and clear. Fairly easy to customize. Still happy with the switch.
